Netflix original series: BLACK MIRROR SEASONS 1 – 3 @streamingfamily.com

In a word, “Fickle.”  In a series that could be renamed Tales from the Tech-side, Black Mirror is the closest thing to a modern day Twilight Zone that you will find.  With underlying themes about the dangers and pitfalls of contemporary technology and social networks, Black Mirror has episodes that are hit and miss.  I find myself either really liking what I have just seen or really hating it, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.  With a show of this style, it would be better to be hot and cold, than always lukewarm.   B+

Netflix original movie: COIN HEIST review @streamingfamily.com

reviewed by SON

I enjoyed this movie. It reminded me a lot of Ocean’s Eleven, but with kids as the robbers instead of adults. My favorite part was when they executed the plan of the heist. Some parts of the movie though… the sound quality was really low, which made things hard to understand. Overall, I thought this movie was really good and I recommend it to people who like funny thriller movies.  B+

Netflix original movie: CLINICAL review @streamingfamily.com

reviewed by DAD

Described as a psychological, horror, thriller Clinical ended up being contrived and boring. I guess students of psychiatry may find it interesting for its use of psychological terminology that the average layman won’t understand. In other words, Clinical was much too clinical. The film had a hard time keeping my attention as it began to drone on about styles of therapy.  The protagonist wasn’t sympathetic.  It lacked any scary moments (sort of a requirement for the horror genre). And the ending had to be one of the most anti-climactic scenes I have witnessed. But it wasn’t a complete failure. The make-up was nicely done so… D+
